ACNE

Acne is a disorder of the skin characterized by inflammation, pimples, blackheads and whiteheads. It is the most commonly treated skin condition. It affects about 85% of all Americans between the ages of 12 and 44. If often begins at puberty in response to increased production of testosterone which, in turn, causes increased production of keratin (a protein) and sebum (oil found on the skin). If the sebum is secreted faster than it can move through the pores of the skin, pimples can arise. This excess oil makes the pores sticky and allows bacteria to become stuck in the pores. If the pores are wide, it allows the melanin (pigment) in the skin to become oxidized and this can result in blackheads. Whiteheads are found in smaller pores, so they have much less exposure to the air, thus preventing melanin from being oxidized.

In order to treat acne, we recommend proper diet, supplementation and skin care products. We have an excellent line of natural skin care products that are extremely effective in eliminating acne and other skin conditions.
